Improve Your Balance and Coordination with These 3 Simple Exercises

Whether you’re involved in a professional sport or you enjoy living an active lifestyle, you will find yourself challenged in situations where extra balance is required to perform an exercise. Here are three simple techniques you can use to improve your balance and coordination skills quickly:

#1 Rock the Boat

To begin this exercise, stand with your feet hip-width apart. Concentrate on pressing your weight equally into both feet. Start by shifting your entire weight to your left foot and lift the right leg up so that your knee lays parallel to the ceiling. Hold this stance for 30 seconds and try to balance as steadily as possible. Repeat the process ten times on each foot and watch your balance & stability skills improve after just a few sessions.

#2 Toe Taps with a Band

For a more advanced exercise, grab a rubber resistance band and place it around your ankles. Come down into a single-leg squat and start tapping your foot forward, then to each side, and then behind you. Repeat the process 10 times with each foot. Make sure to tighten your core muscles for extra balance. If you find the exercise too easy, try doing 20 or even 30 repetitions, or get a stronger resistance band.

#3 Cross Body Punches

To really activate those balance and coordination sensors, try the cross-body punches exercise. Take two dumbbells of appropriate weight, hold them at chest height and lower your body down to a quarter-squat. Keep the left leg as stable as possible as you punch the weights in front of you one at a time. Repeat the process for 10 or 20 repetitions.

Consistent Work Brings Consistent Results

If you really wish to improve your balance and coordination skills, repeat these three exercises regularly at least three to four times per week. You will notice a massive progression after only one or two weeks of practice.
